To my friends, colleagues, and clients: Welcome!
You may be thinking to yourself, so what makes a blog “smart”? There are hundreds of thousands if not millions of blogs on the web. Why is this one any different? Truthfully, this blog isn’t for everyone. But if you are in the federal contracting world, or interested in that sort of thing, this may be just what you need.
The Smart Blog will provide valuable insight into the world of government contracting. The type of insight that could mean the difference between winning or losing a multi-million-dollar proposal.
Is the Smart Blog for me?
We’ll answer questions like “What’s the difference between data and intelligence,” “Should I include photos in my proposal?” and “5 tips to make the best homemade sourdough bread.”

OK, maybe not the last one but I wanted to see if you were still paying attention.
This is the right place for you if you want to put your best foot forward every single time you submit a proposal.
You may also be thinking, why should I listen to this guy? Who is he anyway? Well, let me briefly introduce myself.
Who is this guy anyway?
For more than 20 years I’ve been working in government contracts. I’ve served as a contracting officer where I ran more than 200 Technical Evaluation Panels and procured billions in services. I’ve worked in the private sector where I developed an approach to capture, proposals, and pricing that quite frankly usually won.
And finally, I founded Competition Smart. Every year I get to help dozens of exceptional businesses win millions in government contracting services.
In fact, 9 out of every 10 businesses I work with wins.
And finally, you may be wondering why I’ve chosen to offer these golden nuggets of information now. Well, the last couple of years have been difficult for business owners. And providing information that may help businesses succeed just seemed like a good thing to do.
So if this all sounds interesting to you then stay tuned for future blog posts. You can follow me on Twitter and LinkedIn for updates on when my posts will go live.
Or if you want to get down to brass tacks now and learn how I can help your team win, email me at info@competitionsmart.com and I’ll be in touch!
